Immersed in a stunning landscape at the intersection of times, the cabin awaits travelers, offering an ideal place for physical and spiritual revitalization.
Rucăr, an old and stable settlement in Muscel, is located in the heart of the Carpathians, at the confluence of two rivers: Râușor, descending forcefully from the bright heights of Iezer, and Dâmbovița. During the Roman domination period, a Roman fortress was built on Scărișoara Hill, which, according to inscriptions, housed Cohors II Flavia Bessorum. This fortress was part of the famous Limes Transalutanus, a defensive system stretching from the Danube to Transylvania, aimed at protecting the eastern borders of Dacia Felix.
Historical documents confirm that Rucăr is an old settlement, where Michael the Brave (around 1600) rooted local peasants.
Located in a picturesque Carpathian depression, crossed by the Dâmbovița River and DN 73, Rucăr is 24 km away from Câmpulung, 33 km from Bran, and 61 km from Brașov. It is part of the Rucăr-Bran corridor and is surrounded by the Piatra Craiului, Leaota, and Bucegi Mountains. The routes to reach Rucăr include:
From the center of Rucăr (at the monument), coming from the direction of Câmpulung-Rucăr, turn left and follow the road towards Mara. Right from the beginning of the road, history penetrates among the old trees, as if the echoes of horses' hooves and the shouts of former outlaws can still be heard. Accompanied by Râușor, the traveler finds, at about 6 km, a sign towards Valea Oarzanii on the left side, followed by a gentle uphill accessible by car for a few hundred meters, leading to the cabin of the "Valea Haiducilor" tourist complex, located in a beautiful clearing.
Here, visitors can rest in a picturesque setting and enjoy traditional dishes, such as bulz or "ursul," not knowing that they are eating "the gods' grass," as the ancient Mayans called the corn brought to Europe by Christopher Columbus and turned into polenta. The eyes will relax by watching the stream that oxygenates the trout-filled pond in front of the cabin.
You will rediscover peace and joy by returning to nature, away from the noise and smells of the city, often lost in the rush of modern life.
We look forward to welcoming you!
