Beclean is a town located in the northern part of Transylvania, in Bistrița-Năsăud County, on the banks of the Someșul Mare River. The locality is situated about 35 km from the city of Bistrița and represents an important railway and road transport hub in the region.

The town has a long history, being documented since the Middle Ages. Today, Beclean is especially known for the spa and leisure complex Băile Figa, one of the most popular relaxation destinations in northern Romania.
