Property description
In 1907, the bookseller Teusch began the construction of a villa in authentic Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) style on Târgul Cailor Street (today Gheorghe Barițiu) in Brașov (known then as Kronstadt or Brasso), inside the city's defensive walls. The villa, now known as Residence Central Annapolis, was built with the support of his two daughters - both renowned teachers in the local community - and under the direction of a highly esteemed architect of the time. The building was completed in 1909, decorated in the most meticulous details. Over the years, the building has remained unchanged, surviving major historical events such as the First and Second World Wars, as well as the communist era. Today, the villa offers 24 rooms reinterpreted in the style of yesteryear but equipped with modern facilities to ensure guest comfort: in-room telephone, minibar, LCD TV, WiFi internet, 24-hour reception, laundry/ironing services, safe at reception and in rooms, a conference room for 25 people, and a breakfast lounge. The building retains several original architectural and decorative elements, such as handcrafted oak parquet flooring, stoves created by the Schmidt brothers, mosaics in bathrooms and corridors, fir wood doors, chandeliers and lamps used by the Teusch family, as well as various furniture pieces and interior decorations. The façade impresses with authentic Art Nouveau motifs, including shell and lotus decorations, bird grilles, and four busts representing members of the Teusch family. The entrance hall of the building showcases fragments of Brasov's history from the Art Nouveau period, emphasizing the authenticity and uniqueness of this property.
