Cisnădie is a town located in the southern part of Sibiu County, approximately 10 km from the city of Sibiu, in an area with a strong historical tradition and remarkable sub-mountain landscapes. The locality lies at the foothills of the Cindrel Mountains and represents a suitable destination both for cultural visits and for nature excursions.

The town is best known for its fortified Evangelical Church, an impressive Gothic monument built in the 14th–15th centuries, which dominates the historic center. Cisnădie has a rich history, being one of the former craft and industrial centers of southern Transylvania, with a long-standing tradition in the textile industry.
